Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! This month I decided to do something different. I’m sharing a poem I wrote inspired by a fantastic person in my life. I hope you all enjoy it!
Dreams to Reality
Eyes closed, I lay down to rest, and I’m comforted by the softness of your skin.
Your arms and loving embrace have become my place of refuge.
The softness of your lips feels like a literal cloud nine.
I’m safe here.
Your laughter has become my favorite lullaby;
Always allowing me to drift into a tranquil slumber.
I’ve escaped to heaven that I never want to leave.
The Land of milk and honey, we’re navigating together.
You lead. I follow.
As you guide me through this Promised Land, you’re attentive to my needs nourishing my soul in the most subtle yet vital ways.
Godlike—omnipotent enough to ignite my spirit, omniscient to feed my mind, and omnipresent…your protection of me is so strong that it’s felt even when you’re not physically there.
Godlike—and because of you, I’m empowered to be my best self…the one you chose to sit on the throne right next to you.
I can hear the baritone of your voice, “I love you.”
My eyes opened. I am eager and ready to share with you what I’ve experienced.
Only to find that you can very much relate.
I stunningly realize,
This wasn’t a dream at all…
I was very much awake.
