Support Systems

Ladies! Welcome back to another post from Intuitive Intuition. Today I want to talk about the importance of a support system. I have been one of those lucky women that are blessed with an awesome support system that extends beyond my family. My parents have always been my number one supporters, especially when it comes to my children. Recently, I was able to see just how many people are rooting for my success. I moved to the Dallas – Fort Worth are about 5 months ago. That move was extremely stressful, but my family and friends made that rough transition such as an easy. They gave money, their time, celebrated with my accomplishments, texted and called…anything you can imagine, they did. I will forever be grateful for those placed in my life as well as my children’s lives because they have helped us in so many ways, even when they do not know it.

Now, I know that some women are not this fortunate. Some mothers do not have that “village” around to help “mother.” Whether it be there are no friends and family to turn to, or they are there, but they are in worse off situations and cannot help. So what are you to do when you have no one that can babysit the kids, help with the rent, help you to save money or assist with any other day to day task? Below, I have provided some resources that I either personally use or that I am educated on that I thought be would be helpful.

  • Ibotta – I use this app to get cashback for shopping. It’s really easy to use. So far, I’ve used it for over a year and I have earned close to $1000.00 in cashback with my biggest earnings coming from receiving cashback on formula, diapers and other baby products. Once you have earned $20.00, the payout method is PayPal or check.
  • Rental Assistance – I have never personally had to apply for rental assistance; however, there are many churches, non-profit programs and other resources like the Salvation Army that will assist with rent. You would need to check in your local area to see what exactly is available to you, but those resources are out there.
  • Half off Services for Ladies – There are some local businesses that will offer half off on their services. For instance, I used to live in an area that would offer half on oil changes for ladies on Wednesdays. Again, this will be specific to your local area, but it is worth a Google search.
  • MeetUp.com – This site gives a list of local events so that people are given an opportunity to meet others in their areas usually by participating in activities and attending events. It’s a great website to use for networking or for exploring your city.
  • Support Groups – Thanks to social media, finding a support group is easier than ever. You’ll be surprised how positive interaction on social media can influence and provide a positive impact on your life and what you are going through if used correctly. Some of the best attributes about having a support group via social media is that it’s free and is always right at your finger tips giving you convenience. There are a couple I have found by doing a basic search on Instagram. One that I have grown very fond of is Her Growth Game, IG handle @hergrowthgame. This page is ran by Daniela who is a licensed psychotherapist. Her page and content promotes and supports self-care, growth, mental health, and provides daily inspiration. For me personally, her page has given me a lot of encouragement. Her content is constantly updated and it is consisted. She has also been a supporter of Intuitive Intuition which is appreciated because at times it can be hard to get those who do not know you personally to be an advocate for you and what you are doing.

If you know of other programs, services, support groups or resources that would be beneficial, add them to the comments below; until next time!
